About Mawsynram

Mawsynram holds the Guinness World Record as the wettest inhabited place on Earth, averaging 11,872 mm of rainfall annually — more than Cherrapunji, its famous neighbour. In the dry months from October to May, the surrounding landscape is a remarkable green, with mist clinging to the valleys and waterfalls still flowing from the saturated hillsides. The village is also known for a stalagmite in the shape of Shivalinga inside a local cave.
