CTC Assam, the Everyday Cup
Strong, quick, built for milk and sugar. This is what Assam actually drinks at home, and it is not a lesser tea.
Second Flush Orthodox Assam, TGFOP
The malty one. Whole leaf with golden tip, plucked in the second flush, when Assam tea tastes most like itself.
Assam Tea Tasting Set: Orthodox, CTC, Green
Three 50 g pouches and a card explaining what you are tasting. The cheapest way to find out which Assam tea you actually like.
Bihu Gift Set: Tea, Gamosa, Japi
Multiple, listed on each item
A handwoven gamosa, 100 g of second flush orthodox and a small japi, boxed. The whole gesture in one parcel.
Eri Silk Nehru Jacket, Natural Ivory
Nehru-cut waistcoat in undyed eri silk. Matte rather than shiny, warm like wool, and the moth leaves the cocoon alive before the silk is spun.
Eri Silk Shawl, Undyed
Spun, not reeled. Warm like wool, matte rather than shiny, and the moth leaves the cocoon alive. Undyed, in its own off-white.
Handwoven Gamosa, Red on White
Cotton, handwoven, red border and motif on white. The cloth an Assamese household gives, receives and lives with.
Muga Silk Nehru Jacket, Golden Border
Sleeveless Nehru-cut waistcoat in muga silk, undyed. The gold is the fibre's own colour, not a dye, and it deepens with washing rather than fading.
Xorai, Bell Metal, Sarthebari
Sarthebari, Bajali
Cast, hammered and polished by hand in Sarthebari. The offering tray at the centre of every Assamese ceremony.
The village is named
Every product says where it was made and, where the maker agreed to it, who made it. You can check that against the field reports.
Blends are called blends
We publish guides on spotting blended muga. It would be strange to then sell it as pure, so we do not.
No invented reviews
There are no star ratings on these pages, because we do not host reviews. The same rule applies across the site.
The Assam tea grade chart, free
A one page PDF of orthodox and CTC grades, what the letters mean and what to actually buy. We will also tell you when the shop restocks.
We send a confirmation link first, so nobody is added without asking. Every email has an unsubscribe link. We do not sell or share the list.
