Mizoram is famous for Aizawl (its dramatically sited capital built across steep ridgelines), Vantawng Falls (the tallest waterfall in Northeast India at 750 metres), the Phawngpui (Blue Mountain) at 2,157 metres, the Mizo cultural heritage, and Rih Dil Lake near Champhai (a sacred heart-shaped lake that straddles the Myanmar border). It has the highest literacy rate in Northeast India.
Do I need an Inner Line Permit to visit Mizoram?
Yes. An Inner Line Permit (ILP) is required for all non-Mizoram Indian nationals. Foreign nationals require a Protected Area Permit (PAP). The ILP is available online through the Mizoram government portal, at Lengpui Airport on arrival, and at the Vairengte land border with Assam.
What is the best time to visit Mizoram?
October to March is the best time to visit Mizoram. The weather is cool and clear, roads are in good condition, and Vantawng Falls is accessible.
