About Zuluk

Zuluk is a tiny alpine village at 10,100 feet on the Old Silk Route that once connected India with Tibet. The drive up from the Teesta Valley winds through 32 hairpin bends to reach this ridge-top hamlet where views of the Kanchendzonga, Chomolhari, and Natu La stretch across the horizon. The route passes Thambi View Point and Lungthung village, and at dawn the sunrise over the Tibetan Plateau is extraordinary. An Inner Line Permit is required.

  • From Gangtok: Approximately 95 km (150 minutes by road)
  • Permit required: Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Indian citizens
