About Joysagar Tank

Joysagar is a 318-acre man-made tank built in 1697 by Ahom King Sukhrungphaa (Rudra Singha) in memory of his mother Joy Sena. Three Ahom temples line its shores: the Vishnu temple, Devi temple, and Shiva temple, all dating to the same period. The tank is one of the largest artificial reservoirs in India built before the industrial age, a testament to Ahom engineering.
