About Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary

Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary near Jorhat protects the Hoolock gibbon, India’s only ape species. The sanctuary’s dense forest is best explored on a guided morning walk (7-11 AM), when the gibbons are most vocal and visible. It also holds slow lorises, capped langurs, and a rich bird community. With barely any crowds and resident naturalist guides, it is among Assam’s most rewarding wildlife experiences.
