About Mokokchung
Mokokchung is the cultural and commercial heart of the Ao Naga people, one of Nagaland’s most prominent tribes. The town itself is a base for visiting traditional Ao villages like Longkhum — perched on a ridge with a view across rolling green hills — and for experiencing the Ao Festival of Arts (Aoling) in April. The surrounding district has several heritage morung (clan houses) and weaving traditions that are among the most accessible in Nagaland.
