About Longwa Village

Longwa Village is bisected by the India-Myanmar border — the chief’s house (morung) sits exactly on the border line, with one half in India and the other in Myanmar. The Konyak Nagas here maintain their traditional tattooed-face warrior culture and the village offers one of the most extraordinary cultural encounters in Northeast India. The chief (angh) is a living custodian of a tradition that few outsiders have witnessed.
