About Dirang Dzong

Dirang Dzong is a compact medieval fortified village on a rocky hilltop above Dirang town, where Monpa families have lived in stacked stone houses for centuries. The dzong has a small but atmospheric monastery, narrow lanes barely wide enough for a single person, and views across the Dirang Chu valley that frame the surrounding peaks. It is one of the most intact traditional settlements on the Tawang road.
