Best Time to Visit Agartala

October to March is the best window for Agartala. Temperatures during these months range from around 13 to 28 degrees Celsius, making sightseeing comfortable and evenings pleasant. April and May grow hot and humid. June through September brings heavy monsoon rain, with Agartala receiving over 2,000 mm of annual rainfall, so outdoor sightseeing becomes difficult and some roads flood.

How to Reach Agartala

By Air: Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport (IXA), also called MBB Airport, is the only commercial airport in Tripura, located about 12 km from the city centre. It has regular direct flights to Kolkata, Delhi, Guwahati, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet operate on this route.

By Rail: Agartala railway station is on the Lumding-Sabroom broad-gauge line. The Tripura Sundari Express and Kanchanjunga Express connect Agartala to Kolkata via Lumding and Assam. Journey time from Kolkata is around 30-36 hours.

By Road: Agartala is connected to the rest of Northeast India via NH-8 (formerly NH-44). From Guwahati, it is roughly 580 km (12-14 hours by road). Shared sumo taxis run from Silchar and other nearby towns. From Agartala, Neermahal is 53 km (about 1.5 hours), Udaipur is 55 km (about 1.5 hours), and Unakoti is 178 km north via Kailashahar (4-5 hours).
