About Tashiding Monastery

Tashiding Monastery perches on a conical hill between the Rathong Chu and Rangeet rivers in West Sikkim, considered the most sacred monastery in Sikkim by many Buddhists. The ancient chorten in its courtyard is said to have the power to absolve sins at sight, drawing pilgrims for the Bumchu water festival each year when sacred water from an ancient vase is distributed. The river views from the monastery hill are striking.
