About Ziro Valley

Ziro Valley is one of Northeast India’s most celebrated cultural landscapes — a wide, flat valley where the Apatani tribe has cultivated wet paddy fields and pine-forested hillsides for centuries in a system on the UNESCO World Heritage tentative list. The Apatani people are known for their distinctive facial tattoos and nose plugs (among older women), their sophisticated water management, and the annual Ziro Music Festival in September that draws artists and travellers from across India.
