About Ward’s Lake

Ward’s Lake is Shillong’s colonial-era centrepiece — a horseshoe-shaped ornamental lake surrounded by well-manicured gardens, built by the British Chief Commissioner Ward in 1894. Row boats glide past weeping willows, Japanese bridge, and colourful flower beds. It remains the most beloved park in the city centre.
