About Nathu La Pass

Nathu La Pass at 14,140 ft is one of the three open trading border posts between India and China — a historic Silk Road crossing on the ancient trade route to Tibet. Indian and Chinese soldiers stand face-to-face at the border gate. The pass closes during winter and requires a special permit from Gangtok. The drive from Tsomgo Lake through the snowfields is extraordinary.
