About Kohima War Cemetery

The Kohima War Cemetery holds the graves of 1,421 Allied soldiers who fell in the 1944 Battle of Kohima — described as the ‘Stalingrad of the East’ and turning point of the Pacific War. The famous inscription on the memorial stone reads: ‘When you go home, tell them of us and say, for your tomorrow, we gave our today.’ One of the most moving places in India.
