About Bumla Pass

Bumla Pass at 15,200 ft is a high-altitude border pass between India and China on the McMahon Line. The Indian Army conducts flag meetings with the Chinese PLA here on important occasions. The landscape is stark, snowbound for much of the year, and the views across the Tibetan Plateau are uniquely powerful.

How to Reach

  • From Tawang: Approximately 37 km (90 minutes by road)
  • Permit required: Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Indian citizens

Ideal months: April, May, June, September, October
